err

Hi Michel or anyone who can help,

In trying to run simul on a deterministic model with permanent shocks (using initval and endval), we receive the following error message:

err = Infy
err_f = order of 10^(-5)
matrix near singular or badly scaled

(this is after getting steady state values for initial and final steady states)

What does err stand for and, more generally, what is this message a symptom of?

Thanks very much.

Best, MarTom

Dear MarTom,

when Dynare can't solve the deterministic problem, it reports the maximum error remaining in the equations.
I guess that you also saw the error increasing at each iteration of the Newton solver.
It maybe that you don't specify enough periods to do the transition.
If you want to can post the example or mail it to me directly

Best
