estimated_params;

Postby Kuralay » Thu Dec 12, 2013 8:32 pm

Who could help me better understand what figures (numbers) i should write down in the estimated parameters? For example:

shocks;
var eah = 0.6;
var eaf = 0.6;
var euh = 0.6;
var euf = 0.6;
var evh = 0.6;
var evf = 0.6;
var e_bh = 0.6;
var e_bf = 0.6;
end;
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
// Steady State
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
steady;

check;
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
// Computation
//------------------------------------------------------------------------
estimated_params;
stderr eah, 0.0024, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.002, 2;
stderr eaf, 0.0025, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.003, 2;
stderr euh, 0.0057, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.005, 2;
stderr euf, 0.0035, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.006, 2;
stderr evh, 0.0019, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.008, 2;
stderr evf, 0.0043, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.003, 2;
stderr e_bh, 0.0023, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.003, 2;
stderr e_bf, 0.0018, 0.0001, 1, INV_GAMMA_PDF, 0.001, 2;

How correctly set the values of shocks in the command called "estimated_params"?
Thanks in advance.

This is a hard topic. There are papers on this, e.g. http://ideas.repec.org/a/eee/moneco/v55y2008i7p1191-1208.html. Often people follow the lead of other papers in the literatur. For the meaning of the numbers, see the manual.
