Is there a simple way of generate artificial data?

Postby fernando.fernandes » Mon Dec 22, 2014 4:33 pm

Hi folks,

I would like to know if there is a simple way of generating artificial data using a calibrated model within Dynare.

My idea is to study the statistical properties of a calibrated model, due to the fact that Brazil has a very limmited amount of available data, and compare those properties to the US economy which has a significant amount of available data. So my main idea is that, if the DSGE calibrated model for the US economy generates artificial data with the same properties to those present in the observed data, I may be able to repeat such process for the Brazilian economy, and study statistical properties that I cannot do using original data.

Thanks in advance,

Fernando Fernandes

Use the "periods" option of stoch_simul.
