posterior distribution plot from different chains

Postby ZBCPA » Tue Jan 10, 2017 11:48 pm

Dear Johannes,

Could I ask you two questions about posterior distribution plot?

1. In default, dynare runs two chains during estimation, but only generates one posterior distribution plot. How do we know this plot represents posterior draws from which one of the two chains?

2. If I run 5 chains, can I see each chain's posterior distribution plot, so together 5 plots?

Thanks in advanced.

Kind regards,
Huan

Dynare drops the burnin draws from each chain and then pools the draws from both chains. Hence, the graphs are for the pooled draws.
